Job Summary
The Kent Center Event Space, located at the historic Muscatine County Fairgrounds, is seeking a Part-time Event Center Coordinator to help create unforgettable experiences for weddings, celebrations, and community gatherings.
As the Event Center Coordinator, you will be the primary liaison for clients—from the first inquiry to the final farewell—ensuring every event is thoughtfully designed and flawlessly delivered. You’ll collaborate with vendors, manage event staff, and oversee logistics with precision and care. The ideal candidate brings strong organizational skills, excellent communication, and a creative mindset, along with a genuine enthusiasm for helping others celebrate life’s most meaningful moments.
This position has the potential to lead into a full-time position.
Key Responsibilities
- Marketing & Promotion:
- Represent the Kent Center at expos, fairs, and community events.
- Develop and execute marketing strategies to increase bookings.
- Client Experience:
- Guide clients from initial inquiry to event day with personalized support.
- Host site tours and consolations to showcase the venue.
- Assist clients in planning and designing their wedding, including timelines and layouts.
- Event Execution:
- Create detailed timelines and layouts tailored to each event.
- Supervise staff for event setup, execution, teardown and cleaning staff.
- Manage, schedule, and help train event staff.
- Ensure all staff and vendors adhere to the event center’s policies and procedures.
- Provide exceptional service and follow up post-event for feedback
- Operations & Administration:
- Maintain accurate records, including contracts, payments, and event details.
- Coordinate facility needs with the Fair Manager for maintenance.
Qualifications
We’re looking for a candidate who is a self-starter who is organized, personable, and passionate about creating exceptional events. The ideal candidate will bring a mix of professionalism, creativity, and reliability to the role.
- Required:
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-first mindset.
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and full participation during Muscatine County Fair week.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to stay calm and resourceful under pressure.
- Friendly, respectful, and outgoing personality with a positive attitude.
- Dependable and responsible, with a strong sense of initiative.
- Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively with a team.
- Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in Event Management, Hospitality, or related field.
- 2+ years of experience in event planning or coordination, ideally within the wedding or fair industries.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
